Apple computer speeds (1 Viewer)

I recently installed 1 gig of ram into my home computer (XP3000+, SATA raid 0 80gig x2)

but when using the eMacs at uni (1.25Ghz G4, 1gig ram), they just feel so much faster. everything opens instantly and loads fast, the computer never pauses.

it's not fair

is this true? it seems too hard to believe.

allready stored in the cache memory due to someone recently opening the proggy?

takes me about less than 4 seconds to open photoshop on mi lappy after ive allready opened it... about 8-10 before...

doubt it, they were once a major competitor to IBM and PC in the 80's but thats not Mac Ltd's focus is anymore

I'm going to get a Mac eventually. One mac + one slackware & windows dual boot sounds nice.

There's a diffence between giving your opinion and reinforcing a stereotype. The former is (hopefully) passively biased, while the latter is actively biased and if the stereotype is wrong, then it's also detrimental.

lol, i haven't either. But I've heard that the way Mac's are designed, they perform a lot faster between all your computing components.

I heard this back in 2000. A LOT has changed since them i'm assuming.

ive always wondered why they dont use faster processes etc even tho they are designed differently dosent this just mean they could be using the same sorta hardware levels / speeds but acheveing more with it?

well, the G5's will be getting to 2.7Ghz soon, that's not slow by any stretch of imagination, just expensive

How much ram do you have?

EDIT: well... i don't have decent touch type rate
emacs over adsl is no lag for me either.

i guess i don't type fast enough
