Because people are realising two things; a) christianity is flawed in many ways and b) Devotion and faith take so much fun out of life.

Jesus himself said it is far easier for everyone to take the wider path.

No, I was never a true Christian. I went to Sunday school until about 2 years ago and have gone to church every since i could and still do (just to "set an example to my brother and sister" to satisfy my mum). I went to a Catholic primary school and currently attend a catholic high school where they have lots of relfection days etc etc. Going to church each week counts as my day dreaming time and is quite amusing - refuting the priest's homily in my head is pretty fun and if it's an actual good life lesson, it's worth listening to.

I understand that the Church is man-made and so of course it has its faults etc etc and that God gives us free will and that's why bad things happen. Trust me, i've been told that repeatedly for i don't know how long.

But I see religion and the possible existence "God" the irrelevance. I was never drawn to the idea and I always refute whatever the priest or whoever is lecturing/explaining says (even on the many school retreats where they try and encourage a "new approach to religion) in my head because there are just too many inconsistencies.

I believe that you should enjoy life, that you should try to be the best person you can. And if this so called "God" is going to send me to hell for refusing to believe in him/her/it then that's fine by me - i don't want to live with some self centred prick who only is only kind to people who kiss his/her/it's arse. And plus, I don't see the point in wasting all this time revering some being that may or may not be there - just enjoy life/be the best person you can and if this higher being is just and has common sense then you will be allowed into nirvana if one even exists.

The many wars/conflicts that have been started based on different religious beliefs has also probably contributed to me being non-religious.

So there you go, I believe that there isn't a higher being but even if there is, it's irrelevant to me anyway.

Oh and of course i expect everyone's religion/faith - whatever floats your boat i say. But don't try and convince me, I know too much about religion for you to be able to convert me... you'll probably be converted to atheism.

I was baptised catholic, went to a catholic primary school and high school. But I would probably say that i'm a weak agnostic.

I have no problem with religious believers; the major problem I have is with blind faith. I think that if someone has informed themselves, and made the choice of being devoutly Christian or committing themselves to a religion, then I'm fine with that.

I also don't like people who try to force their faith on me. I have no interest in that, and if you did, I'd probably ignore you until you stopped - I respect your beliefs so you should respect mine too.

I don't think religion would have an impact on my choice of a partner/relationship. I tend to look at people based more on their values and ethics rather than morals.

Had mass today. I participate because a) I respect the fact that my school is catholic and b) because I believe that Catholicism holds many respectable values

I didn't have communion today though, cause I was playing piano whilst it was being distributed.

Non denominational. Our pastor Hans is a graduate of Moore College... but basically only uses Anglicanisms pure Bible focused teaching. The service is nothing close to an Anglican service.

I guess the thing at our school is not so much about being completely faithful etc, but about acting in the way of Mary (We're a marist school). The marist brothers have done some fantastic things, and social justice is high on our priorities. We NEVER fundraise for the school - all the money we raise goes to different things. Our priest is awesome too! He usually just tells us about some cool life lesson like about flowers or his trips overseas and links it to being a good person, then loosely ties it back to faith and thanking God XD I quite like his homilies

Wow, you guys sound really charitable. We're a Marist school too and we also only fundraise for good causes as well But of course that includes any extra curricular activities that involves traveling interstate or overseas! *Hi 5*

I think that's correct for the catholic church of times BCE. But the teachings of a modern catholic church are derived from those following the intense revisionism applied to religion... particularly during the middle ages and the reformation.
