Would really appreciate some help in deciding on whether to undertake either the BComm or BEconomics at USYD- I have a passion for economics but feel that the BEconomics could be a little specialised and limit future options. On the otherhand, core units within the BComm look a little soft and ambigious like 'business information systems'- is anyone in the same boat or has faced this dilemma previously?

Just do Commerce and major in Economics in 2nd year. You choose your majors in commerce in second year anyway, so this would give you a year to think about it. Commerce isn't soft if you major in Accounting; it's definitely soft if you major in say, marketing.

BEcon won't limit your options really. Pretty much anything you can get into with commerce you can get into with economics. I'm finishing off my BEco and have been able to get internships in management consulting and Big4 Tax & Legal. Haven't tried finance, but I don't think it'd stop them from hiring me.

Hey,

I can't really help you decide but thought I would let you know that USyd can probably help you if you call up. They will be expecting a lot of calls today with UACs preferences closing tonight.

BCom it. Very broad degree, might find other majors that you could like.
