1TB HDD's are a waste of Time

as is DDR2 RAM

Basically on ANY new computer now what you want is...

Core i7 capable Motherboard with lots of extra slots to upgrade.
whatever Processor you can afford
DDR3 Ram... it's inordinately better than DDR2
Multiple 500GB HDD's... having multiple drives also means that if one dies, you can format the working drive and install your OS on it while you send off the other one and not have to wait until the HDD returns to get online and bitch about it (Oh and with Windows 7, from when you put the disk in to when you're online = approx 15 minutes)

I assume by the GTX260 you're intending to play games? Putting a GTX in this system is like putting Premium Unleaded in an Astra... great little car, but better in a Calais V...

You probably don't need to spend $196 on the case, seeing as if you do Overclock that processor to 3.3Ghz, this case will not be adequate anyways, and if you leave it as is, it's overkill... 3.3Ghz for this processor needs SERIOUS cooling...

Oh and buying an awesome Gaming Keyboard while having a shitty $22 mouse is kinda retarded...

I know the RAM isnt as much and monitor not as big, but better CPU and GFX card and cheaper too (RAM and monitor could easily be upgraded and this would not cost too much i would think)

Windows 7 (i'm not even going to worry about vista) supports 3.5GB of RAM, adn unless you are going to be running intensive music editing programs or such there's no way you're even goin to need 4GB anyway.

I think 64bit (needed for the 4GB) is the way of the future, but at the moment its not worth it becase there just aren't enough programs that support it.

i actually am OCing to 3.3GHz thus saving around 100 bucks
as for the i7, im sorry but i dont have an unlimited budget
DDR3 is a good suggestion

i am trying to keep it under $2000 hence why no speakers

i was actually gonna go for the 64bit XP so thanks for the heads up

and as for the mouse, my old rig has a G5 on it, im just swapping them

As for DDR3 ram - completely redundant for the time being. Puts an unnecessary strain on your budget as the price rise from DDR2 -> DDR3 is quite extensive. Better to buy better parts. DDR2 ram for the time being is fine.

Although, if you're going to have this computer futureproofed - get a motherboard that accepts both DDR2 & DDR3

this is a pretty good rig but if possible buy an i7!! i know that means you will have to change alot of stuff but its worth it! I recently built a pc for a mate with specs:

i7 - chepest forgotten model name
Asus i7 mobo
3gb ddr3 ram at 10xxx
nvidia 280gtx
etc... it was a while ago so i have forgotten all the shit...
but running cod 4 on full settings and with pezbots (adds bots to multiplayer) running 25 bots on shipment his CPU was only running at 14% INSANE

The comment about 64-bit is SO SO SO wrong... the only problem you have with 64-bit is hardware drivers and rather old programs.

64-bit Windows 7 is great (what I'm running right now)...
