yeah that was for the weightlifting. it's an event traditionally dominated by asians, as it's for women under 48kg. white people don't come in such packages (apart from scarybunny)

the opening ceremony was impressive at the start. best parts of the last few ceremonies: the torch lighting in sydney, the water flooded stadium with flaming rings in athens, and the drums, countdown, light show in beijing.

is it just me or did other ppl find channel 7's coverage/commentary pathetic?

he's not going great though. as they're saying on the commentary, he's losing ground fast (e.g. he lost 4 mins between 'laps'). he went all out with the bolivian at the beginning, and there's no way he'll have the energy for the later stages

LOL, that's why I watched it on CCTV1.

How good was the ceremony? The drums and fireworks were pretty hectic.

Not exactly - the heats will be on at night time for us, and the finals will be on in the daytime

hectic drumsss.
and lol at those cheerleader-style girls who had to dance continuously while 204 countries came in.

i'm gonna watch: swimming, athos, rowing, cycling (the velodrome ones), tennis.

and can someone explain why usually (this year an exception) the big tennis players don't play in the olympics? i mean.. its the fukn olympics why wouldnt you play.
