I HATE THAT FGT LUHRMANN. Had to study his shtteh raped adaptation of R+J.
Burton's work is... eh... I don't really like animation.

Is this all types of movies and bodies of work, cuz I like Burton's "Bones", by the Killers. :p (I think it's because of the music, though.)

Mark Romanek, Sam Mendez, ...

I think Burton's stop-motion puts me into awe-raptures every time I see it :)

He inspires me =D

But he is very stylized, each to their own.

As for Luhrmann, I enjoyed R&J as a work in its own right (not his best) and it did butcher the shakespeare slightly... but some of the shots and the symbolism :O stunning!!

Honourable mention- David Fincher for Fight Club and Alien 3
FUCK YEAH, Fincher's Fight Club adapation.

I didn't quite like Alien 3; genre, storyline problems.

Ron Howard?!

Scott? Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, Alien, American Gangster, and of course, Blade Runner?

Judd Apatow, Roger Kumble, and Richard Kellyhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Kumble aren't too bad.

I gotta agree with the OP. Baz Luhrmann and Tim Burton are equally amazing, depending on my mood. Moulin Rouge and Nightmare Before Christmas are my favourite movies of all time.

Ohh sorry, thought he was asking about Burton. My mistake.
