they're great, but you could hardly call them 'underrated'. after all, they're pretty widely adored and they have praise heaped upon them from all over the place.

mainly because when bloc party were first so popular all the critics were like ZOMMGGGGGNEWFRANZ! NEW FRANZ! and made the two bands so comparable - but in my eyes nothing compared to franz anyway. when i actually listened to silent alarm i hated it. not only because i just kept juding and comparing them though, i dont really like kele's (?) voice anyway

oh, that's so odd. i don't think franz and bloc party are too similar. stupid critics just compare any two bands who have some of the same influences. bloc party are so much more bleak and industrial-sounding though - i'd say they're more comparable to the rakes; whereas franz have a much more arty and glam sound by comparison.

fucking critics... they say such stupid shit.

i remember bloc party being compared to interpol

when both interpol albums completely rape anything bloc party has ever recorded, it's hard not to run arms flailing into itunes after being aurally penetrated by bloc party to clense with something from turn on the bright lights. just so you know how it's supposed to be done.

yeah... i would definitely agree that interpol are better than bloc party. :uhhuh:
but i think any comparisons between the two are unfounded. that's really scraping the bottom of the barrel; certainly, critics will compare anything just to rile people up.

the worst part is that a million shithead hipsters will froth at the mouth over bloc party and interpol, yet they have no appreciation for joy division or gang of four.
