has anyone tried finding other ppl with bluetooth like on a train or something and then trying to send them stuff from ur fone to theirs? i tried to do this with my motorola e398, it finds the fones and everything, but when i choose the phone to send it to, it just says "seeking" and doesnt do anything :S so for anyone who knows wat i'm talking about, am i doing it wrong?

Yeah I've done it, remember they have to approve the synching/transfer though.

Another fun thing to do. Go into Dick Smith/Harvey Norman/whereever has PDA's, and search for them on your phone. Then try to send a file called "hot gay loving/DSE sucks/all the staff here suck wang/whatever insult you desire", this will then come up on the screen on the PDA's. Especially fun if they're behind a glass case.

i bet that's as funny for the store clerks as it is for you. ESPECIALLY after the tenth time!
Yeah but that's what they get paid for.

Oh, also it especially fun to stand away from the PDA's but so you can still see them, and then when someone comes over and starts looking at them, then you send it, for example if it's a fat person you send "loose some weight, fatty" to appear on the screen.

They get very freaked out. Bonus points if they're old and have no idea what's going on and think it's evil.

Ahahahaha. I have a friend who works at DSE. Could turn out to be a reasonable prank, I must say.

hahahah .. i'm totally going to have to try that electronics store thing sometime. it's good if you want to send pictures to other peoples' phones or whatever but cbf spending money on a picture message. although mine's really picky so you have to hold it right next to the other person's phone at a specific angle.

I've got that phone, it rocks. Eats the battery pretty hard though.

Which is better to use: data cable, bluetooth or Infared Red?

Do i have to buy this bluetooth adapter for my computer, how much would it cost?

Can anyone explain how bluetooth &/or infared red work?? :D :D

thanks ^_^'

wow, old thread! sit down kiddies, i have a bluetooth story to tell.

well i wasn't there, but i have a detailed description of what happened. a few of my school buddies went to a business studies (?) excursion, only to be stuck in a boring powerpoint style lecture. apparently there were a few other schools there as well. well, my friend being the super funny idiot that he is, decided to use his phone for entertainment.

he found to his amazement that via bluetooth, he picked up the laptop (yes, laptop) connected to the powerpoint projector. so, in humourous fashion, he sends the message:

I LOVE THE PENIS!

and it flashed on the huge screen for a few seconds, oblivious to the presenter.

They all do the same thing. Data cable would need to to connect your phone to the computer. Bluetooth can work wirelessly. IR is wireless too, but needs line of sight with your computer's infrared transceiver.

Anything from $20-$70

Bluetooth is essentially another version of normal wireless computer networks, but designed for short range, low speed, device to device communication. IR uses infrared light to beam information across two points.
