LOL so funny. And today, considering our topic in journalism studies was about the relationship between journalists and their sources, it was the perfect example for us.

Does anyone find it curious that the story only broke now, considering different journalists from different papers would have known about it and this happened about a month ago, and normally they would be fighting with each other to get the story out first? I think that there is a lot more behind this story- it seems like games have been played with the politics or the media to keep this story quiet for the past few weeks, and something has happened which has compelled the tele and the SMH to act on this and publish it today. I am sure more will come out about this... and I have a feeling that is why he resigned. I think this is only the tip of the iceberg of this story, because was this behavior really bad enough to force him to resign without even thinking about it or hanging around to see what the fallout would be in the next few days. For all he knows, there could be another terrorist attack or something and the media will forget about this story tomorrow.

There is more to this story, you can tell by his reaction, and by the odd way the press withheld the story and have now decided to publish.

Carr and Helena have previously been accused of being un-Australian and out of touch becasue they have no children.

You'd never see someone of Labor integrity behave in such a manner. Depsite how much we dislike Liberals, we never go as far as to abuse their family or make plans to kill them. The whole culture fo the Liberal Party disgusts me, the way everyone ingratiates themselves to the nearest high-ranking party official, lavishing them in praise in the hope of recognition and favour.

Yes, one young Liberal actually harboured serious plans to knife Mr Carr.

*shakes head*

You'd never see someone of the Liberal party behave in such a manner. Depsite how much we dislike the ALP, we never go as far as to abuse their family or make plans to kill them, seeing as though they are more than capable of acting in such a manner themselves. The whole culture fo the Labor Party disgusts me, the way everyone ingratiates themselves to the nearest high-ranking party official, lavishing them in praise in the hope of recognition and favour.
I prefer my twist (and it's just as valid, too).

Rather similar to the ALP's chance of having a PM in the near future :)

It was broken by The Australian's Glen Milne who was informed of it by a senior Liberal Party member.

Libs were cheesed that Brogden was making no headway even though Carr was gone and decided to get rid of him.

Apparently the whole thing been around for three weeks or so now and it was more or less leaked to the media by certain elements of the NSW Liberals Right faction who strongly disagreed with Brogden's stances on certain issues.

If you don't like Brogden, wait till you see some of the real Right members of the Libs.

hehe. :)

ggaahh broggers is a dickhead for doing all that in front of journalists...but seriously all this shows is how much you need to be aware of what you say when you're in the limelight. like heaps of people tell racist jokes for a laugh (for example pay out asian women drivers). but if they're construed to make us out as evil racist close-minded people it's pretty harsh. i personally find such jokes (eg asian women drivers) quite hilarious as an asian woman driver myself. mail order bride is mild in comparison to the completely un-PC jokes you hear about lebanese or aboriginal people!

i suppose though, on top of that, he sexually harassed 2 women. hmm, the cumulative effect is a bit overwhelming.

meh...there's my irrelevant 2 cents.
