Absolutely not, how dare Board Of Studies exploit my very academic weakness !

I can forget an entire text within a few weeks. I was shocked I couldn't even remember a single quote from my Henry Lawson text.

I'm not a keen essay writer either, thank god I did not study one or more of these subjects too:

  • Ancient History
  • Modern History
  • Drama
  • Legal Studies
  • Society & Culture

So I'm more scientific than literal, however you put it.

I like English, primarily because it's easy for me to get good marks. (I enjoy writing, and the teacher is biased is in my favour.) The work itself isn't all that stimulating, and in class I'm often painfully bored, but overall it's tolerable. Top marks = happy, I guess. :)

Agree. I find it pretty easy as well. It's just some texts can bore me, but overall, its can be very interesting :)

English can be boring when all you're doing is writing essays/reviews/speechs. I like it when we have class discussions. :)

Extension < Advanced
Advanced does the Simpsons! This coming term...
also extension sucks due to its nature - as an extension course
of an unecessary compulsory course:mad1:

english is pretty useless no matter how you look at it. bos should concentrate on helping students improve on their grammar, spelling, etc and not simply force them to learn about shit like shakespeare, film techniques, visual techniques, blah blah blah.

I thoroughly enjoy english. It fascinates me and although utterly useless, provides a completely different perception on life and on texts that you have possibly never considered before.
Rock on BOS for making it compulsory

I find I have an amazing ability to bullshit my way to top marks through assessment after assessment, no matter how little study I do. Therefore, I love english!

I'm actually pretty good at english, but I hate it.
There's pretty much no skill involved, its basically just writing out what the teacher tells you about texts in class in flowery language.
Waste of a subject if you ask me.

Depends on the teacher really. For last two years, I had teachers that I disliked and this year, I have a pretty good teacher. Surprisingly, I've done good in English throughout high school :)

I generally just do maths homework during english.
It's annoying when she catches me though, because the teacher actually likes me and stuff.

Well I usually get told of each lesson for talking too much in English, especially when I;m discussing another subject. I can't do any homework because I sit in front of him :(

We don't do work from other subjects in English. No, not because we can't, but because we're scared.

Our teacher threatened to put all non-English related work where "the sun don't shine." I have no idea where that is...but I don't want to find out.

Would you want to be working on your grammar when you're in year 12? I figured that that was what year 4 was for.

Worksheets on whether/weather the word they're/their/there fit into a sentence during the entire HSC year is much worse than what we do currently.
