What if you meet and marry a guy that seems perfect, but then it doesn't work out? I believe your religion is opposed to divorce in most circumstances, so then you're pretty fucked, aren't ya? Getting married does not make it any less likely to end tragically, and you'll be more connected with the person so the tragedy will be heightened if it happens.

err my religon doesnt oppose divorce
you can divorce if u so desire..
yeah ur right ina sense that divorcing a guy is harder then just breaking up with a guy
but its not like i meet a guy..marry him..and thats that
i would obviously know him on a more personal level then just that
its not arranged...or anything...
and by personal i dont mean to go as far as premaritial relations
also having a boyfriend through say highschool is what i see as pointless..unnecessary waste of time
ur not gonna be together 4ever o why bother

u know how many b/fs my best friend went thru..all they heartache and depression..and all this bullshit that was the biggest waste of time..

If you're getting engaged to a guy when you know him for less than 12 months then I'm sorry you seriosuly aren't going to know him on that deep a level, nor will you have any idea what he's going to be like 4-5+ years into the relationship. And you bother with young relationships because it fulfills your life more at the time and allows you to make mistakes that you can then learn from and not make in future relationships, and also who says you can't find your one and only during high school?

In response to this thread, yes I do see myself getting married, but when depends on how long it takes to find someone who'll put up with me.

ok..my sister met her husband at uni..when she was 19..he was 18
they got engaged 6 months later
then married like 4 months after their engagement
they the best couple i know(1 yr anniversary on feb 19th)
it worked for them
thats where it differs for me
u want to have fun and learn from ur mistakes thru schooling years relationships..but i dont..its the total opposite for me...and seeing what my friends have been thru..they must be very unlucky...but their relationships sucked ass..and made me not even bother

You can't make a judgement on the long term happiness of a couple based on the fact that they're still together after a year of marriage.

i think he meant re-marriage....as many mainstream religions do

me...i can see myself getting hitched, but definitely not yet. i've still got tonnes to see & do, & many things i've never experienced (emotionally, not just physically) or learnt (lessons in life, not just uni/tafe sorta stuff)
i think i wanna experience a fair bit before i settle down too much - not saying that settling down's a bad thing! but i just like my freedom.....well to a degree...i also (currently) like the idea of having someone..but i guess thats also to do with being in so many r'ships (well 3, with some others which could've led to something too) in such a fairly short period of time (the past yr)

and u cant assume that it doenst work
or that the marriage will stuff up

for me..im gonna go about it my own way
as for you..do as you so desire
and good luck..finding a wife..(i dont mean that sarcasticly)

i'll only get married once i have my prioroties fulfilled and when uni is finished, like when i'm 25.....but it could happen during uni, u never know....but i'm trying to avoid that as far as possible as i can, but still if i get attracted to someone to that extent that i want to marry them and love them i'd still try to wait, coz once youre married you have responsibilities for eachother and your kids and stuff and you wont have time for yourself or it will be more difficult for you to work and get established so im going to try to wait until i build my career/life before that stuff.

ill only get married when i want kids, makes you obligated to work out problems and cause it brings two people closer even if u are different

yeah i know but even without kids, your life does become a little more restricted, but it depends on what you wanna do really..personally i can't handle marrying anyone in the next few years coz i have prioroties as i said to finish uni but then that wont end there i wanna get involved in international matters and really just focus on my career and family before i start a family of my own ( even if youre just marrying - its still commitment, but my career will restrict commitment right now so yeah..)
