I was wondering if anyout there has the experience where they have played sport/exercised and can come back more focused on study.

Whereas if they lie and sit around, go to parties and sleep in. It gets harder to concentrate and focus on study.

yes, apparently it does help ease the mind. I haven't personally experienced it but teachers at my school consistently tell us to go for a walk after you've studied for a breath of fresh air. It takes your mind off things.

My dad thinks it's a waste of time ---> (in a curry accent) "Nehi beta (no child!) it's a waste of time. You can study during these hour instead of wasting your time playing basketball. I don't care what your teachers say at school!"

Heheh I totally gave up all forms of physical exercise during Yr12. Didn't even have to walk to bus stop because I developed perpetual bags under my eyes and my dad took pity and drove me all the way to school every day. :p The only exercise I got was probably walking from class to class. So unhealthy, but I was already so tired out with studying there was little body strength left to do anything else.

I found doing excercise worked - I jogged most days and when I came back to study I found myself way more alert. Obviously you shouldn't excercise to the extent that you're half dead when you get back and consequently too tired to concentrate properly. Dun skip the parties either though........hahaha

hahahaha i'm sure all the alco at parties makes you dumber.

But I think the one of the world's top mathematicians takes speed or something to keep awake and it's had a positive effect on him, I think I read it in one of Karl Kruszelnicki's books.

btw, has anyone gained weight over the hols? I've gained like 3 -5 kilos. Not a good sign! :(. Oh well, when I get back to school, I'll probably lose it from walking around the school, as Lainee said, that's the only form of exercise I'll be doing throughout this year.

Exercising definately helps. Especially during the trials and final exams. I used to do about 15min run/jog in the morning before breakfast and shower. Definately helped my concentration going into the exams.

They're both as bad. If you play sport you get tired, and if you sit around you get bored. My advice is, don't bother studying until the last two week. ;)

Don't burn yourself out at gym, I use to go there 3-4 times a week after school, I find my self totally exhausted when I got home and had to take a nap, it wasn't until like 7-8pm that I actually started studying.
