I got all b6s in SC and all b4s in HSC.

Though, that's probably reflective of how much I cared in year 10 vs year 12

WELL HERE GOES (lol i fail):

>School Certificate<

English Literacy 85 (band 5)
Mathematics 83 (band 5)
Science 91 (band 6)
Australian History 91 (band 6)
Australian Geography 91 (band 6)

>High School Certificate<

Advanced English 90 (band 6)
Economics 85 (band 5)
Legal Studies 90 (band 6)
Mathematics 87 (band 5)
Mathematics Extension I 41/50 (band E3)
Studies of Religion 49/50 (band 6)

So overall I got 3 band sixes each for the SC and HSC. I think I faired similarly with HSIE subjects although Economics was a bit of a downfall (good its high scaling). Maths and English however improved! yay! I'm quite consistent. I get band 6s but don't tend to really break the 90/91 barrier ==" Oh wells! its ALL OVER!

Im currently doing data analysis on any possible correlation between SC Science/Maths results and Physics results.

I tell you now, according to the students at my school, students who are naturally quite bright and do well in SC Science and Maths (85+) but put no work in for HSC Physics, can expect a mark of around 65 in Physics and an ATAR of 50.

Those who may not be quite as bright naturally, but work harder, can expect a mark low-mid Band 5 and an ATAR of 90+ :)

Very limited data set though, only my school for the past 5 years.

So here goes. Please don't judge me.

SC:
English - 92/100
Maths - 98/100
History - 100/100
Geography - 89/100
Science - 87/100
Computing - 94/100

HSC:
Italian Continuers - 90/100
Music 1 - 87/100 (did 2 elective performances and 1 elective composition)
Studies of Religion - 43/50
English Advanced - 84/100
Italian Extension - 40/50
Biology - 79/100 (still incredibly pissed because I worked damn hard and could have gotten a band 5 or 6 had it not been for a f**king lazy cohort)
Mathematics - 76/100 (which is actually good compared with my trial mark of 38%)

Yeah massive downfall from SC. I guess it just proves that I'm smart but not that academic. I did not have a single tutor for any subject during the HSC, just did homework, sat at the front of the class, turned up to class, listened/paid attention, got help from teachers and did all assessment tasks. It got me an ATAR of 85.5 which (I hope) gets me over the line for Science/Arts at Sydney.

Not to be rude or anything
but i don't see how you can go from a 98/100 in Maths in SC to 76/100 in 2U maths...

I'm proof of this :) but I was a pretty bright student throughout my schooling years. I just wasn't the type who got 90s+ for maths or English. I would of been always an 80s+ student.

So if you're a current or future HSC student, do not fear. An ATAR 90+ is very possible without high scaling subjects or not getting band 6s in every subject. Do not worry about what subjects your other friends do. Just continuously make notes for your courses, share them around class mates and try your best. This is what I found to be the best method of my achievement.

I know mates who did MX1, physics, English adv and ended up with an atar of around the 70s. I also knew a guy who did gen maths and senior science and got a 90+ Atar. General rule: Amount of effort put in = your ATAR.

and good luck!

Because 7-10 maths is a lot easier than 11-12 maths. Had I done General I could have got a band 6 easily.
