It's not as clear cut as that. Every uni has its strong and weak points, and as a result no university is universally 'superior.

if one were to look at the point of government funding, UWS receives one of the largest goverment fundings in all of australia. BUt lets not different too much from the topic

How important is the uni you attend? I plan on going to uni but I'm also split between getting into an awesome degree at a uni like UWS or a relatively okay degree at a uni like USYD or UNSW.

University prestige matters to some extent.

It would be unlikely a person from a community college can get a top job in a law firm in the US. Similarly, a degree from UWS won't make you as 'attractive' as one from USYD in a highly coveted job given that the degree and grades are similar. If by an awesome degree you mean 'Combined Law' at UWS vs 'Liberal Arts' at USYD, the degree from UWS would be much more valuable than that of USYD. If you mean UWS 'Combined Law' v USYD 'Commerce', I would seriously give thought in what I want to do with my degree. If you wish to practice Law, it would be easier to do it at UWS than to try transfer in USYD. You would need good grades to transfer - and that is not an easy feat (unless you pick dead-easy courses).

Speaking from my own experience, the teaching quality doesn't matter. In the end it's all self-taught.
Resource on the other hand does matter.

I know this has been asked heaps before, but I just want to see what you all think. Everyone who can actually answer the question properly seem to be split on the matter.

It depends on what you want out of uni. Ask yourself specifically what are the things you want from your degree and experience at uni and rank them in terms of importance. Each university will provide slightly different things so it's a matter of choosing a uni that suits your needs/wants.

I chose a uni based on my experience, campus life, support and degree structure/teaching. Also, you should do some research into the university by not only looking at the website/brochures etc, but actually talking to people that go there, go to their Open Days etc, and actually just visit the university during the week to get a feel for it.

I'm not going to lie to you: The quality of what you get varies incredibly from university to university. The most noticeable difference is really the students. Studying with better students is really a significant thing for your education.

That being said, you should still only go somewhere that feels right to you: You should go to the open days, chat with people, see what courses you'd be doing, etc.

Opinion is split because it depends on the degree. Some courses it makes no difference whatsoever. Others, it does have some impact.

uni does not really matter. a person i know of was a CFC and a finance manager for well known companies. that person did not go to a go8 uni, nor is the uni very hard to get into. in the end, personality is key.
