identify data, gather and process information to indentify and discuss the issues associated with the increased need for a natural resource that is not a fossil fuel and evaluate the progress currently being made to solve the problems identified.

this is a dot point. the teacher has told us to do it. he will give us marks. Have you done this dot point in your class? if you have please help me. thanks

and below are some other dot points that you might be able to help me.

gather, process and present information from secondary sources to describe the steps and chemistry involved in the industrial production of H2SO4 (Hydrogen Sulphate) and use available evidence to analyse the process to predict ways in which the output of sulfuric acid can be maximised.

present information from secondary sources to identify alternative chemicals used to replace CFCs and evaluate the effectieness of their use as a replacement for CFCs.

Wood or timber is a good choice on this one.

On the "evaluate the progress currently being made to solve the problems identified" bit you can approach it in a couple of ways:

1. Lots of trees are being planted to replace the ones that get cut down
2. Other materials e.g. concrete and steel can be used in place of timber

The progress being made on this stuff is good, but there is still a lot to do.

S is burnt in air to produce SO2. SO2 is further reacted with air (oxygen) in the presence of a vanadium pentoxide catalyst to produce SO3. Le Chatelier's principle applies to this second reaction, so the temperature must not be allowed to get too high, otherwise the concentration of SO3 decreases.

The SO3 is then dissolved in H2SO4 to form oleum (H2S2O7). The reaction between SO3 and water is very difficult to control.

Finally - to get H2SO4, just carefully add oleum to water.

Fluorocarbons have replaced CFC's in many applications. They're more expensive but just as effective as CFC's as refrigerant gases. CO2 or N2 is used as a propellant these days.

that dot point isnt under this module right?? isnt it under "Industrial Chemistry"
