I can't tell if you're trolling, but overpopulation is pretty serious at this moment. Natural resources are stretched. Energy is one among many serious problems.

Oil supply will peak, and prices will dramatically increase in our lifetime. There is really no serious replacement for oil in our future. A world with limited oil is looking at a serious energy crisis. Without oil we can't produce food.

Uranium is not all that plentifull, too costly, too difficult.

Coal is the easiest option to power the world for hundreds of years, but this gives some serious problems with waste and pollution.

Water is serious business. There is not enough of it globally. Desalinisation plants are an expensive last resort. Most of the world could not afford to build them for millions of people.

Land productivity is falling in many parts of the world. The USA, Australia in particular have had many years of decreasing output. World fisheries are thoroughly exploited. We are in for long term problems with world food supply.

World Phosphorus production peaked in the late 80's, and will be completely depleted in the near future (~2050). Along with nitrogen, potassium, it is the most vital of fertilisers. There are no substitutes for phosphorus. We can not produce food without phosphorus. We are fucked.

You are deluded if you do not believe overpopulation is real.

Why do you want an ever increasing population anyway? How many people is enough, when does the madness stop?

Any loss of life is tragic. It's good to see the Chinese people actually care about human loss and abuse. If only there were some way to make that compassion more powerful than nationalism.

If you're an asshole then keep it to yourself. I don't want to read your mornic shit.

You're not a person but a piece of shit and I hope you understand that. If you're proud of being a piece of shit then whatever floats your boat.

Just hope that i don't come across you because you won't be smiling.
I don't post to get attention.

You don't have to read it. Skip my posts, or better yet fuck off all together.

That's about the third time you have said that, I get it... you think you are tough... whatever.

Oh no, the world is going to end!! You make me laugh.

Oil supply will peak, and prices will dramatically increase in our lifetime. There is really no serious replacement for oil in our future. A world with limited oil is looking at a serious energy crisis. Without oil we can't produce food.
Yes there is.

Uranium is not all that plentifull, too costly, too difficult.
Yes it is. No it's not.

Coal is the easiest option to power the world for hundreds of years, but this gives some serious problems with waste and pollution.
True, we should develop ways to deal with the associated problems.

Water is serious business. There is not enough of it globally. Desalinisation plants are an expensive last resort. Most of the world could not afford to build them for millions of people.
Hahahaha. Not enough water globally? You tool.
Desalinisation plants aren't all that expensive. What's expensive is producing energy. It's expensive due to the cost of training of specialists to operate nuclear facilities. Once we deal with that, there is no problem, we could easily create/sustain them.
.

That's why we have bullshit. (literally, manure.)

You are deluded if you do not believe overpopulation is real.
Oh noes! A guy on the internet who is incredibly stupid called me deluded. That hurts so much I'm going to cry to my mummy.

Why do you want an ever increasing population anyway?
Why do you want there to be an ever decreasing population?

You remind me of that guy in the movie Titanic. The life boats could each hold 80 people, yet for some reason people like you would be letting people down with only 20 or so to a boat. You know what's funny? The boats with 80 people would have been warmer, and thus more likely to survive. That's pretty funny isn't it?

Um, like that has ever slowed humans down before. Things go terribly wrong all the time. But if a venture is properous enough, and there are humans left, they'll keep at it.
Actually it has. However although failure has slowed humans down before, it's not yet stopped them. When I spoke about something going wrong, I meant the possibility of every person on the moon dieing. Something to that extent.

To put it simply: no, it makes absolutely no sense to claim natural selection dictates humans are incapable of successfully colonising space. What makes things suddenly so impossible if we expand this to include aid and imports to the moon as well?
A few things.

1) It's not easy to send aid to "the moon"
2) Materials needed to generate energy. ie; Fuel, Gas, Nuclear. Are extremely difficult to carry/develop on the moon.
3) If something fucks up on the moon, it's not exactly easy to go across the border or away from a danger zone.
4) The neccessities of human life all readily exist on earth. We don't need to produce/create them in the same way we do with on the moon.

The majority of the world's human population today does not live sustainably. Yes, I know it probably could, but it doesn't. But until everybody is living in a sustainable way at present population levels (including good human rights, which includes access to medicine and food), it is ridiculous to talk about double that population being sustainable, let alone the 10-fold level you claim.
It's so damn funny that you mention human rights. Do you know what the fundamental human right is?

The right to live.

So you're right and you're wrong. The earth could sustain 10-fold the current population. Not overnight, but after centuries of growth and stagnation in terms of reproduction (poorer people tend to reproduce more often) along with the technological developments needed to sustain life, continually developing. There will not be a problem.

What a fool I've been, believing there are any looming problems with sustainability anywhere, ever. Suckered in by those so called 'scientists', the environmental movement and their lies.

Thank you Sam04u

I am pretty sure that the right to live extends only to people that are already alive... and maybe unborn babies. We don't have to increase the capacity of the planet because people who currently do not exist have the right to exist.

The earth could not sustain 10 fold the current population. Please do a little research before continuing with this argument.

Sure it could. Ofcourse it would require the production of new energy, food, and water. But it's very possible.

*expert

I've read the same armageddon scenarios as you have. With ridiculous population forecasts of 13 billion people in 2030. Well, that's what they were saying 10 years ago.

You don't have to worry though. We're due for a flu epidemic. Black Death?

I can't believe the mainstream media cares so much about China's 30k dead whatever compared to Burma's 300k dead. Makes no sense. After all, they were only communists.

The mainstream media is always out for the next great story with pictures, live footage....the public is fickle.

i am not sure if this is been said already, but the transparency we are getting in the meida is only due to the olympic games. rarely have i seen a foreign reporter been allowed to set foot in china, freely reporting whatever he/she wants. chinese censorship will resume its normal control after the games, i reckon.

You fucking hyenas and jackals.
Ive had just about as much as I can take from you slime.

It's not clever to make light of tragic death. The holocaust is not funny. Racism is not witty. You are not ground-breakingly taboo to laugh at rape, abortion, prostitution, paedophilia, homosexuality.
I HOPE YOU ALL GET WHAT'S COMING TO YOU

Well... If you'd have noticed, mainstream media hasn't really covered either of these two nearly as much as they did when Indonesia got wiped the fuck out.

We're also not contributing 40billion to China like we did Indonesia (I'm confused) and Burma just flat out refuses to allow anybody to help.

So really, I think you can look at this as an indication of how much the rest of the world cares about Asia, or atleast an area of Asia that isn't immediately local to Australia.

Iron, I agree with you.

However should we constantly live our lives in mourning? This is a tragedy. But it wasn't avoidable. It's couldn't have been prevented, so far as it's possible to predict when these things will happen.

Death is tragic, but why do we only focus on certain deaths? How can we even keep up with all the deaths happening in the world?

Should each of us have a wardrobe of black, and carry handkerchiefs, and constantly cry and mourn the loss of life? We could do that, but we wouldn't be living.

A wise man said "weep during good times, and smile during sad times", it may seem like the insane thing to do. But no, it is the only way to maintain sanity.

So 'laugh out loud' with me. We'll live the lives they've been denied of. In memory of them. For justice, for love, for humanity, for the lulz.

** FAUX NEWS (CHINESE VERSION) REPORTER **

Reporter: Comrades!

Today is a tragic day as many of your brethren have been killed in this horrible disaster. Amidst the tragedy there have been reports of widespread celebration by 'dogs' everywhere. One dog had this to say: "Ruff ruff, roooo!"

- Subtitles appear on the screen -
Dog: The Chinese people have inflicted many atrocities on the dogs of the world. This can only be seen as revenge by DOG ALMIGHTY. Death to the infidels!
