Z1 = -1.28
Zu = 1.98
Shouldn't z upper correspond to P(Z>zu)=0.03 and your lower one seems correct.
i.e.
P(X>2000) = 0.90
Thus, Z1=-1.28
P(X>6000)=0.03
Thus, Zu=1.88
Statistic:
Z=X - u / o
Equation 1:
-1.28 = 2000 - u / o
***-.128o+u = 2000
(not sure how you got this line, just a typo?. Should it be -1.28o + u = 2000?)
Equation 2:
1.88 = 6000 - u / o
1.88o + u = 6000
Ok, now as for solving simulatenously, why does multiplying by one cancel the u's? I get really lost there in the explanation. The line after it has completely baffled me. Where does all that come from?
