Not a big fan. His personal life was far more interesting than most of his stories that I've read. Having said that The Fall of the House of Usher and some of his poetry are quite good.

"...known poet and disturbed soul Edgar Allan Poe!"-Dr. Nick

Edgar Allan Poe was a genius when it comes to descriptive writing. Although slightly disturbed as a person, alot of his works are really good. I love 'The raven' (yeah i agree that the simpsons did a good interpretation of it :) and 'The pit and the pendulum'...fridging awesome!!!

I had to study gothic stuff in year 9, and I had to read The Telltale Heart.

If you ask me, Poe is a fucked up genius.

Oh, I am such a big fan of Poe's work. :) I used "The Black Cat" for the HSC last year and my friend used "The Tell-Tale Heart". A very talented man.

i think i used the black cat too (VCE though)... i loved studying poe, memories have been flooding back lately cuz i've made one of my friends read some of his storis. I don't think she made it right through Tales of Mystery and Imagination though! Loved the premature burial.

Thats "Mr Raven" by MC Lars, I loved that too.

Poe was an fantastic writer, he basically invented the crime thriller genre... I did an assignment on him, and used the simpsons version of The Raven during my presentation.
He was an interesting character. He married his cousin and I think he drank himself to death... He was an alcoholic at least
