Me got idea of medium

Hey, i decided to do a documentary of the history of australian cricket but then thought.................. how the hell am i going to fit 200 years of cricket into 8 mins.
As you can tell, im a huge cricket fan. Now i decided to do a parody on a cricket match. A mock 10 over match where everything is haywire and the players are based on my lil brothers U/10's. They're going to act like adults but in the end you find out that 10 year olds are going to the pub for a couple of shots. Different medium altogether. it's gonna be Radio drama. at least you can commentate and pull off richie benaud mimics. "Its TWO, not ttccchhwwwwooooo!!!!!!!"

If any of you people have any ideas, criticism or input please make sure it is liable.

"Why the hell am i doing 4 unit English when i wanna be a bloody accountant."

He guys, don't you reckon that the extension courses are easier than the Advanced English.!!!!
I do.

meh im pretty buggered for an idea, our english ext 2 class, of two, was told "do a short story, or else!", bah. was thinking how great it would be to do an 8 minute doco on teenage life, uncut and uncensored :) it would break way to many laws though, hell they'd probably try an lock me up, would go from us sitting there at lunch having a deep, explicit, conversation about midget porn to year 10 girls with there tops off pashing each other with someone sucking down a beer bong in the background. heh that would be fun to shoot, but then again our school doesnt have the resources to purchase a camera.

ee2 is mad, so much freedom. I'm doin short stories, just read about 20 short stories and done some research on the medium. Not too much gunk, talked with a bunch of people, actually ive done quite a bit of research its a really catchy subject. EE1 is also mad, speco fiction but advanced omg kill me now could it get anymore boring doing analysis after analysis

20, in 6500 words??? Sounds more like flash fiction to me, good idea though, i may just steal it. I don't really want to write anything deep, just entertaining.

edit: HAHA it is my idea!!!! read your post wrong, i'm slowly going illiterate, you "read" 20 short stories, not planning to write 20 short stories.

at the moment I am really liking the idea of dabbling in a postmodernist style.

my ideas so far are both short stories..

either two short stories paralleled in plot and characters, however one story from the perspective on one main character, and one from the perspective of the other. it would be less about plot itself than the exploration of the workings of the two characters' minds. I was thinking of one character being a rapist, and the other being his victim. the plot would begin with the rape, and the aftermath would be most of the body.

after meeting my step brother for the first time in over 6 years, I have come up with another idea. he lives in a house in mittagong just near where ivan malatt (ie: the backpacker killer) used to hide out. anyway, the place he lives in used to be a nunnery. one day he noticed light coming from behind one of the boards in his closet and he had no idea what it was. there had always been a window in the side of the house but they couldn't figure out where it went to. he went and got a screwdriver, and removed this panel of the wardrobe, and on the other side was a room, about 4ft high, with bunk beds built into the sides. he found a worn marble on the floor and figured that the nuns used to hide their children away in this room (for obvious reasons - nuns aren't supposed to have children ..)

Another thing, is anyone else having trouble with the idea that their parents will read what they write? I will admit, I do take drugs, and I wanted to incorporate my experiences into my writing. I am worried however that my parents will read my story and basically make their own conclusions.. Is anyone else censoring their work to some extent because of the fact that their parents or other family will read it?

Well its all fiction isn't it? ;) You could always say that its all based off experiences that happened to a friend of a friend of yours but I'd say keep the personal elements, just don't make it obvious that its you.

Yeah i was concerned that if i included personal experiences on my work my parents would find out that my saturday nights arent spent they way they would have liked. I think writing based on personal experiences is vital for effect and atmosphere in you major work, perhaps you should say you made them up or that they are the experiences of someone else. Either way, i dont think you should censor your work in any way.

just don't let em read it :) my teacher was having some whinge about our tendancy to self-censor when we are conscious of the fact that someone else would be reading it.

Well, well, well James Wu...

Well, well, well James Wu...

Who would have thought I would see the unmistakable name funnyperson1000 here eh? =P

I really don't have anything productive to add; just felt like screwing around with your thread and exposing you as a deviant. ^^

Anyway off to start my proposal.

I assume if you actually read this reply, James, you will probably say something about it in maths or something... =)

Bye everyone.

New Class 2005 - Evil, evil maths.. *shudder*

Am I the only exception doing Crime Fiction in Extension 1, but writing in Speculative Fiction format for my Major Work?
My teacher is a hard-arsed postmodernist fanatic; it just seems a little unfair that the BOS give greater accreditation to it.

I'm the only one in my class, and let me tell you - it demands you attention when you really don't want it. I can recite about 100 times I've been stopped in the hallway by people in either absolute awe or mockery, asking, "Are you really doing 4 Unit English? Is it hard? I heard you have to write a book"
No brainwave, you have to write a thesis on quantum physics. It's funny how I'm literally the only person in school who actually doesn't do a single unit of maths. No maths based subjects, either.

I'm writing my story fused with strong religious and spiritual elements and ideology - it doesn't seem to have made me too popular with my teacher a BOS representative who previewed my journal. Oh well..

Speaking of which, I am a terrible procrastinator.. lol I think I'm about 500 words into my Proposal and already I keep putting it off, promising myself I'll do it another time. Knowing me, that 'other time' will be the night before :p

Anyway, I hope to hear from you guys .. maybe on MSN or something? pheak@hotmail.com
I'd love to share progress or just chat or anything, really.

An idea is an idea....
A though is a thought......

To create reality from a thought u must express the idea on paper. Writing in the mind is powerful however it is merely a short lasting glimpse into the four walls that stimulate ur imagination, that is why u must write ur mind out on paper use 'the blood" from ur skull if u have to, as long as u make sure that it'll live on forever.

The mind is a powerful tool, however a tool is an even more exprssivce powerful machine. Once u start it up it never turns off, that i why we like to say " the pen is mightier than the sword"

I do 4 unit english and no maths or science, lol. Plus I procrastinate a lot too. We should start a support group.

I'm writing a PLAY people. And I have that whole "I don't want my parents to read my work" thing too, mainly because my Mum is a religious freak who goes into a huge tantrum when there's an hint of sex, violence, drugs, rock and roll, and basically only wants me to do a story about some Christian thing. (Well, I assume she would, but she's having no input WHATSOEVER).

Ahaha somehow I think you'd prefer a Mum like mine.. she pretends to be interested in an ancient Middle-Eastern setting with oohs and aahs, but it's just comic to see after 5 seconds of reading the first paragraph, she needs to sit down lol.

A support group eh? That's not too bad an idea.. I just came back from Tamworth on Friday, at your TAFE down there.. doing some work experience stuff. Don't ask, IT is evil. But yeah, I stayed in the charming Bunkhouse on Gonoo Gonoo Road. Ahaha don't ask me to pronouce it, I think I already forgot. But anyway. If you don't post any sooner, have a wonderful Christmas everyone and I hope to hear from you guys!

Hello.

I was thinking about a novella for a while, but after about a month of redrafting plots, I give up. So I'm going to write some poetry.

I don't know about linking the concept to the Advanced and Ext. 1 courses though... Seems a bit limiting. I'm thinking i'll do all that after I've done the course...

Anyway, I'm thinking about exploring the tragic metaphysical struggle of the individual, the idea of the destruction of action due to excess self-analysis, the intolerable absurdity of human nature... An overwhelming nausea, and perhaps how one overcomes this... Or else how one endures this "chasm of oblivion" through ephemeral flights into the realm of aesthetic divinity, the eternal (only remaining) justification of such an existence.

Such is the outcome of living in social isolation for 8 months... and reading Nietzsche (and now on to Goethe!). I can't wait to move back to the city.

Good luck!

Solitude is the unfortunate consequence of the HSC, I'm afraid.
Those are some interesting ideas you have there.. took me a couple of times to read over them again but all is good. Linking to the Advanced and Extension 1 courses might prove difficult though - perhaps the 'Journey' as such is an inner facilitation of change, metamorphosis or something arather. Just ignore me :D

Gah, so this loneliness will continue? I've been living in the country for a year (since finishing my HSC) and am doing part of the HSC again in one year as part of pathways.

Hehe, don't worry. It's all pure charlatanry, I can assure you. :D Like I have ideas and they just empty out onto a page... It's actually quite a stroke of luck that sense can later be made of anything I write. Hmm, I could even say that I'm an automatist like the surrealists... I wonder what the markers would make of all this megalomania? :D

Yeah, I don't know about linking it to the extension and advanced courses, considering I haven't even started the prelimenary course yet... I figure I'll make the links afterwards. I might even write in my proposal "I don't know what I'm going to write about" or something to that effect. It'd be fun, since they want reasons for everything, to justify my decision for not making a decision.

Hrm.

Read TS Eliot's "Lovesong of J Alfred Prufrock" by any chance?

If not, you definitely should, if those are the themes you're interested in (still -- is it just me or does it seem to change every few seconds -- even after I've done my official proposal!). It explores /exactly/ those issues you mentioned.

And for an idea, I think it'd be /very/ easy to link that to 'inner journeys', but as you said, don't limit yourself, just write it and then figure out the links :)
