I would rather use descriptive language. Adjectives seems rather.......mundane? :\

the point is, to point out "techniques" made possible by the use of adjectives

adjectives refer to a word, ie beautiful.

techniques use words to point out some thing's beauty without necessarily using the word "beautiful".

while descriptive language can be a whole sentence or paragraph that has a wide variety of techniques used to create that descriptive language.


the point is;

that by considering adjectives, a technique, u r breaking the text down too much and not telling us the effect it has on the audience. which is the point of "HSC techniques".

while, by stating descriptive language as a technique, u r not breaking down the text enough. u r merely stating that descriptive language is created, obviously by the use of some form of technique but not stating wat technique it is.

is it a metaphor?

eg.
All the world's a stage,

And all the men and women merely players;

They have their exits and their entrances;
William Shakepeare

u could call the passage above descriptive language but that is not the technique used, it is merely the end result.

the passage is describing the view of a person by using metaphors, this "describing" can often cause the misconception that descriptive language is the technique used.

the passage is creating descriptive language, by really being an extended metaphor.


if that makes sense.


leave "techniques" like adjectives and descriptive language in year 10. these cant be used in year 11 and 12.

and like "bored of sc" pointed out descriptive language isn't a technique- it is the result of the usage of techniques.

My tutor who is a HSC marker said that she doesnt accept descriptive language as a technique in the HSC exam. But she said that saying adjectives are perfectly acceptable if you give a quote of the adjective and give evidence how it relates to the journey or change in self etc.

my tutor, who too is a HSC marker, tells it differently.


u already know my views on it.

tho u havent told me yet, if u are mr.reza's son or not.

adjective is a technique that can be used in the HSC - although it is suggested that it not be used (as you imply)

Descriptive language and adjectives both seem to be pretty weak lower order responses in my opinion.

with the narration thing..
what about the omniscient narrator and the limited/restricted narrator..forgot what it's called again
