Hey everyone,

Just wondering how to edit your essay correctly in the exam, like what needs to be put in quatotion marks and does anything need to be underlined etc...

For example:
Peter Skrzynecki's Immigrant Chronicles is good, specifically 10 Mary Street and Ancestors.

What would the editing of this sentence need to be?

You underline a text name, ie. Immigrant Chronicles.

So far I've got that we underline a text name.

E.g Peter Skrzynecki's Immigrant Chronicles is good, specifically 10 Mary Street and Ancestors.

Would we do anything to the poems 10 Mary Street and Ancestors, are they text names also?

you put the poems in inverted commas and the name of the text is underlined

In the HSC, I underlined everything - Immigrants Chronicles, Feliks Skryznecki.

I know it's technically incorrect, but underlining was just faster. And I guess I didn't lose any marks, so I think it's perfectly acceptable in the HSC. Not so much in university though.

The name of the actual text, Immigrant Chronicle, should be underlined.

10 Mary Street and Ancestors are technically extracts from the text (as Immigrant Chronicle is a collection of poems) and so thus are in inverted commas.

So,

Peter Skrzynecki's Immigrant Chronicles is good, specifically "10 Mary Street" and "Ancestors".
