Excel books (2 Viewers)

does anyone use those excel books for prelim/hsc?
if so are they any good?

I use them i find them good to study from but alot off ppl say they are useless. you can easily get by without them tho.

at skool we have to use an excel book for physics and at home i have an older version of the 2u maths excel books. For maths the stuff is really simple but good for revising stuff that u forgotten because most the work is quite easy.

The thin ones like for maths and stuff are yeah about $25, but the thicker ones for lets say legal studies, which have all the moduels in them are about $30.

Also when you look at the HSC make sure they are worth buying, eg, if you do modern history the excel book doesent even half half the topics of the course in it only the popular ones, so the moral of the story is look before you buy...

EDIT: and in some HSC ones, you can a CD with it, i think it has past papers on it or something, not sure havent look to hard at it, and they go for a bit over $40.

i agree with ryan.. the biology one is good though
physics is good... but the chem is shit as.......
but yeah theyre around 25 for the prelim ones... theyre good for 'night before exam' reading ..they briefly descirbe the dot points..they give u a fair idea about what it is and then u can research further or look up further what you need

My tutor told me that if you get the excel books, you need a lot of understanding of the subject to be able to use them.

I had the prelim math and ext math ones and they were really good. They cover everything and really help explaing some of the concepts.
Um i've got the Ancient and Modern History one's for next year and they dont look 2 bad. But now ancient gots 2 parts to it. Book one and two i think
Overall i think they are pretty good

yep, spot on there.
those books have to be used in conjunction with another text and actual work. you cant expect to read over the excel books and expect to do well in an exam.

I like the religion one - it's got some really good information in it...our text book are pretty useless so i use that more then them

excel physics is really good as a study guide, its pretty clear and has the syllabus dot points at the start of every chapter.

The Advanced English one, not the excel one, but the purple one, was actually really good.

year 11 is coming to an end so im just interested in the hsc excel books right now
soz i wasnt as clear before but im going to do these subz for next year -

ext 1 maths
standard english
legal studies
business studies
software design and development
catholic studies

anyone have an idea which hsc excel books for these subjects are good and crap?

You carn't get one for Catholic, only the SOR one.

oh well doesnt seem that much of an important subject to me anyway, since im not catholic (no offence to any strong catholics here)
but my catholic skool requires us to do either catholic studies or SOF

and if u were wonderin why i enrolled into a catholic skool in the first place, dun ask lol ;p
