hey guys, i want to purchase an external hard-drive, though i dont know if i should get a portable one or not, as i think the portable ones dont need a power socket to operate. I heard the seagate ones are the best? what do you think.

i want to use the hard-drive for mainly saving everything i have onto it and keeping my computer hard-drive clean of anything.

im using a western digital external hard drive (120gb)
got it from officeworks for 300ish (this was like a year ago)

I have a 1TB Western Digital MyBook Home Edition. Got it last december for $420 from jb-hifi.
Price should be in the $320 - $380. But have it seen priced at $297 in Officeworks.
Works great! but its internal light is not really necessary

I have that one too, it's pretty solid. Cost me $360 or so, that's Singapore dollars though so around $300 AU I guess. I also have the 120 GB Western Digital which is extremely useful because it's more portable. The TB is an absolute beast though, you'd be hard pressed to fill it very quickly.
