So... I'm in first year of Advanced Science, and failed SCIF1121. My other results are good (two HDs and a D, 91 in MATH1141 and 90 in PHYS1131). My academic standing is still considered "good". This course is compulsory for the Advanced Science program but not explicitly a prerequisite for any higher year science courses, so... Do I still have to repeat the course?

Yes, you have to repeat it. You must pass the course.

If you decide to stay with the advanced science program then you must complete it. If not you don't have to bother with it.

Damn that's annoying.... can I do SCIF1131 instead? I'd be bored doing the same course twice. History and philosophy of science seems much more interesting than SCIF1121. If anyone has done SCIF1131 before, I'd appreciate if you tell me what it's like.

Yeah you can do SCIF1131 instead according to the handbook and few of my friends are doing SCIF1131 instead of SCIF1121. Also nice Maths and Physics marks!
