Year 11 is good because it is essentially an opportunity to develop an effective study schedule for each of your subjects. This includes identifying and addressing areas of improvement throughout the year. The main difference between year 11 and year 12 is that none of your results in year 11 count towards your HSC results or your ATAR, so the mistakes that you may make at any time during year 11 would be at no cost. This should hopefully reduce any stress that you may have and remain focused as you progress through year 11.
There are some standard study strategies that apply to some of your subjects, such as Mathematics Standard and English Advanced. First, favourable performance in Mathematics Standard requires that you understand the concepts and that you are able to apply your knowledge of the concepts to exam-style questions. This involves completing substantial practice material, mainly textbook questions and past exam papers. The more you do this, the more exposure you will have to different types of questions and the more you will be able to promptly identify and address areas of improvement. You should also ensure that you ask your teacher to clarify any aspects that you may not fully understand.
Second, favourable performance in English Advanced requires thorough knowledge of a range of literary and visual techniques. This includes being able to identify, interpret and analyse them in texts, as well as using them yourself. You also need to familiarise yourself to a great extent with your prescribed texts (this becomes crucial in year 12) as well as the main themes/ideas/issues that they convey according to their respective modules. Further, you should focus on improving your writing. You can do this by regularly seeking your teacher's feedback and implementing their suggestions. This is important for questions requiring longer responses, such as essays.
I hope this helps!
