Could I use Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket as a related text for belonging?

From what I can see, there are examples of both belonging and alienation (and I can probably bs some techniques). However, I'm not sure if it would undermine my essay if I use it as a text. Or, if it is alright for a text, is it too big... it deals with belonging/not belonging in recruit training, and then deals with US in Vietnam, where the marines belong together but not in 'Nam.

Or do I just find something else?
