What are you looking to get into in Uni?
Advanced Mathematics, I heard.

If he gets 93-94, he can consider that course in UNSW.

If he gets 95-96, he can consider that course in Macquaire.

If he gets 98-99, he can consider that course in USYD.

If he gets anything apart from them.....I don't know.

Was considering B Science (Advanced Mathematics) at USYD.

But after discussing it with alot of friends/teachers, I'm looking at a science related course in Uni, which requires only around 90+ UAI.

95+ aim is for my own personal goal

Since you are coming 6th in Maths Ext. 2 it might be good for you. But there is a reason why Advanced Mathematics is called Advanced Mathematics.
Good luck on your aim :)

OMG!!!!

I just realised that "+59 miA IAU" meant "UAI Aim 95+". Before that, I actually thought it was a name. (referring to "mia").

Anyway, which is the course?

yeah I'm not sure whether I want to try get into BSc (Advanced Mathematics) or Bsc (Advanced). What are the main differences between them + do you know the difference between different universities (Macquarie, USYD, maybe UNSW) for the courses?

I thought B.Sc(advanced)is for ppl who get over 95%+ in their respective course wich they are going advanced for.
ie: 95%+ Maths= B.Sc (Advanced Maths)....welll this is what i think.
I might be wrong.

Ok, cool. You will probably get that 95 UAI.

I think BSc (Advanced Mathematics) has mathematics as its compulsory major throughout its course whereas in BSc (Advanced), you can basically choose anything you want as long as complete the minimum requirement of mathematics (in the first and the 2nd year)

BSc (Advanced Mathematics) also enables students to explore maths in really great depths and combine the knowledge of science and maths. (maths in more focus though).

For BSc (Advanced Mathematics), 4 unit is required, meaning that the maths that are going to be learnt will be of extreme difficulty. For BSc (Advanced), only Mathematics is a compulsory subject. (I don't think MX1 is an option or not).

even if you do a bsc, can't you just do the same subjects as the advanced course anyway? (thats what i heard)
Yeah. I think so. But you learn the lower level of maths. And the amount in which you are exploring is significantly less/

how? if you're doing the same subjects.....then you're learning the same stuff as the advanced people....?
No, I think the major is different. The courses are only similar in terms of courses they both take for science. But I need to mention that I am not an expert at this.

well from the usyd website, it says the only differences are that you do most of your subjects at an advanced level, and that there are minimum marks you have to achieve to stay in the course. Considering that the advanced courses are available to bsc students as long as they have the prerequisites, it's basically the same degree.

and the majors in the advanced maths course can also be done in the regular bsc course

thats according to the usyd website. i may have interpreted it wrong but thats the only differences i found....
What job besides a statician can you get with Advanced Maths degree?

Lol.

You can pursue tonnes of careers related to Mathematics I reckon. Go to USYD homepage and have a look at the course related to maths. There are tonnes!

Hmm I've seen a lot of people asking others for UAI Estimates and I guess I'd like one as well... see if I'm aiming too high and what areas I need to improve. I go to a school ranked 126 and my current rankings are:
English (Adv)- 9th/~60
Business Studies - 1st/~75
Physics - Equal 1st/~60
Software Design and Development - 1st/25
Studies of Religion - Not sure so prob won't count that, but I'm pretty sure Top 10/~150
Accelerated 2U - 4th/25 in Year 11; 20/120 in Year 12
Accelerated 3U - 3rd/10 in Year 11 - not too sure about Year 12 rankings.

Thanks.

I'm not too sure about your UAI but go you for your rankings :) The only thing you might one to work on is English, even though you're ranking quite well.
