Well, they are living together because they're old and cant live independently, so issues associated with ageing and also the Media with Hermann Hermann being an ass!
What did you write about in reading responding?

Yeah I see. It seems like it depends on the question alot, since usually when I had practise papers I'd be making new insights for the first time while answering because the question made me think about the stories in a different way. Was it like this for you?

Not so much. Just look at the prescribed issues and think what possible links you might make.

Ridiculous stuff. I said I saw a bush fire when I was little, that I had diabetes (dont) and that my pe teacher helped me deal with it. For the last part I wrote that I had a special emotional attachment to this guitar.

Haha...they eat this stuff up. I'm sure they'll love it.

Did you manage to get in some impressive clauses?

Guys, I'm really scared. What exactly did they want for that reading and responding 15 mark one? I got the part about someone who has had an influence on me and something about my personality, what I own and treasure etc. What else was in that text? Was there something about an anecdote?

There was:
-talk about your childhood
- an event that influenced who you are
- A person who has influenced you
- Your personality
- Hence, something you possess and value...Tell them about it!

And that was pretty much it, don't stress! Sounds like you were across it :awesome:

And of course you could have mentioned your thoughts about the Radio program...but only if you felt like it. :)

Hey could you just talk about an event that influenced you in your childhood to combine both of those points into one? I did that although i'm not entirely sure how well it went. I didn't seem to get the flow of writing and had to pause and think quite a few times. Happened a bit on the last writing question too but not as much. Also how did you bring in the personality and person that influenced you into the 15 marker. I just had it in separate paragraphs and it all seemed a bit disjointed. Otherwise i found the listening and comprehension easy.

For the radio question, I actually left it til last and wrote an epic novel in the time I had leftover... haha. I talked about a point in "my" childhood when I lived in Africa (I've lived in Aus all my life) and my father took me to see a lion who was being put down for mauling a woman. I said my father had influenced me that day because he refused to support killing the lion, though it got him fired, and I always keep a photo of the lion on me to remind me to be nice to animals and brave like my father... which is why I'm at uni studying vet science.

IT WAS GREAT FUN. And I wasn't sure whether to use "Sie" or "du" either, so I just side-stepped the whole way and used passive :p

And, chillax, peeps! Native speakers don't always top, because while they obviously thrash everyone else in the speaking, sometimes they don't have the English skills which are necessary to do well in German (c'mon, some Aussie kids don't have the English skills necessary to do well in German)... and you don't have to be a native speaker to do Extension. Sure, it helps, but... :p

As for Extension preparation, I'm just gonna read all the stories again and do some practice responses. We have a German exchange student staying in our house at the moment, so I exploit her shamelessly to mark my practice papers! xD

Anyway, good luck to you all with your German results, the rest of your exams, and Extension if you do it! :D

I did this too all my points were inter-related who knows what they're looking for... I said my person was influenced by their prized possession and not a person T_T because their possession was a living thing

I'm sure they'd like that because it shows a deep consideration and also shows the persona's personality and values.
My person's prized possession probably should have been more explicit - because I just talked about how she valued her experience of 1 year in Germany and that she also valued her relationship with her mum...

But I didn't make it a physical, tangible thing...is that ok?

Well the passage said "We also want to find out about your personality. Because of that we are interested, for example, in something special, that you own and the reason you value it". You don't own your mother/Germany so to speak, but arguably a possession was only a suggested example, and the fact that you value your relationship with your mum/exchange still reveals much about your personality... so yeah its debatable. Fingers crossed!!

Did you actually go Germany for a year?

haha well my english is actually better than my german now :p But yeah, also many native German speakers that only recently came to australia may go to the German school. For the state rankers, I think many will have a German background at least. For example, I met a girl at the oral exam whose dad was austrian.

Also, apparently girls are more intuitive when it comes to languages anyways :p

Good luck to you too! The battle for state rankings is on ;)

How do you know I don't own Germany - I'm secretly Angela Merkel.

Negative, I went to germany on exchange for a month, but I made it a year in the task to make it more interesting...hahahahaha

Yeah. I probably should have made the possession a bit clearer - hope I don't get marked down too harshly! :( :(
