Wait wdym how to determine ethyl ethanoate vs methyl methane are
if you do all the work you basically get that it's a four carbon ester, and idk how to determine what type of ester it was

crib says you can figure it out w h nmr and mass spec but idrk

basically
Hydrogen environment
One has an area of 3, and a singlet so its next to the COOR group as a terminal carbon right
so its CH2COOR
Then the other two carbons r just next to each other hence the quartet (3 neighbours so another terminal carbon) and triplet (2 neighbours come from carbon in next to terminal)

bruh that's so many, I never did this many papers, I did only 3-4 max for maths and like 1-2 max for the rest
nah are you for real

and what atar did you get

this is crucial stuff

yea I'm not kidding lol

I got ~97 (not telling my exact ATAR so a particular someone doesn't dox me)

I guess it's because I did more humanities subjects so memorising/knowing stuff was sufficient
jeeezzz what an academic weapon you are

how you only do 1-2 for humanities!

but that's literally free marks wtf

soap has polar head / non polar tail
hydrophobic tail dissolves in non polar grease
friction from rubbing action lifts up grease molecule from surface and allows for more tails to dissolve
once tails have fully surrounded --> micelle
emulsion of soap water and grease micelles is rinsed away with water

bam clean
Re saponification, entropy is also contributing to the grease breaking away from the surface and into micelles / emulsifying in water.

Many small droplets of oil / grease, enclosed as micelles and moving through an aqueous phase is more disordered than one big chunk of oil / grease stuck to a surface. Just like an ionic solid dissolving, the process may be enthalpically favourable or disfavourable, but it is entropically favoured which is an important factor in the process being spontaneous.
