Has anyone got an ATAR of 99.90/99.95 without doing Extension 2 maths?? (1 Viewer)

I technically got 99.90 without any extensions, haha. Neither HX or MX1 counted towards my ATAR.

Yeah I was surprised too! But apparently at the super high percentiles HX doesn't scale too much better while I guess Eco does so... :S

well some girl at my old school last year got 99.90 with visual arts, ancient history, bio, chem and SOR1 and maths ext... one extension but there are 4 pretty average/really bad scalers there ....

pick your subjects on interest and what you'll think you would do well in, not on scaling

I say screw scalling of subjects do what interests you and floats your boat. Just think, it would be better enjoying Art for example than failing like a whale in Maths E2.

My sister did well even with English E2, she did Art, General Maths, Advance-E2, & Legal studies and gotten a UAI of 96.3.
But in other words, if you don't do an extension, just heads down, butt up and study.

however you just need to score in a higher percentile in the subjects that you are doing
Depends on your natural ability and how much effort your willing to put in

These questions are common...and the answer is always: you can get whatever atar with whatever combo of subjects. I didn't do any maths or science or anything for my HSC in 2011 and i got 99.85 (i know that's not 99.9/.95 but i feel i'm close enough to be able to properly give an opinion). I did legal studies, english advanced, music 2, ext 1 english, economics, ancient and hist ext. - none of which were considered very hard or anything. But I got a state rank for english advanced and history extensionn, strong marks in my other subjects (all 95+). Now that's a lot better than if i had done maths and science as my marks for those subjects would probably have ended up around 90 or even in the 80s: scaling CANNOT save a shit mark.

Yah, our due got 99.95 by doing ext Maths 1 accelerated in year 11 and runner up got 99.90 without doing ANY Maths at all. I also know this other girl who got 99.95 who only did 2U.
