hi guys, i got this paddle-pop bridge to build for uni and at the end of semester its going to be put under a load and see how it goes.

I need to build a bridge with max of 250 paddle-pop sticks.

and the point of load, is exactly on the top(middle). Supports on the sides dont need to be created, just like the arch or wateva

i was wondering if anyone knows any go strucutral pattern or structural shape, that can create a very strong bridge structural.

any help will be awesome...

thanks

cheers to musk for posting this elsewhere.

you should check out this game, its pretty much a simulation of exactly what youre doing.

from memory the most stable combination came from simply making a square with two sticks and connecting the diagonals. something like a |X| with two more on the top and bottom. repeat this pattern across the main "road" part of the bridge.

add with a few sticks at the bottom to spreadout the area above the support pillars:

and have some supporting beams above the pillars to ease out the load near the middle of the bridge:

you could be cool and try do something more complicated, and more paddle pop stick efficient: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arch_bridge
