Edit: i also know friends who got a band 6 but got UAI's in low to mid 80's

yeh i had 2 mid 80's and rest low 80's and a 75.

so if someone maxed up on high 80's, with scaling subjects, then i think 96/97 would be very possible.

How did you get a higher UAI than me?

What subjects were you doing Rahul?

Ext 1 Maths (87)
Ext 2 Maths (81)

UAI: 94.6

I was definitely surprised with my UAI being so high without any band 6s.

Hehe.

Well I'll be the first to admit Shakespeare ain't my cup of tea.

Seriously but it's weird cause at my school, English based students (top) who got band 6 in like Adv English, Modern History etc ended up getting similar UAI's around 94, whereas maths based students (top) got 97+ UAIs.

just curious. :D
this is why what is shown in the paper (band 6 names) are not a true indication of how well a school goes. because hsc marks mean nothing, uai is everything, and u got a great uai without your name in the paper

i know someone who got 91, and 89

BEGIN RANT :chainsaw:

Meh, someone ought to write to BOS+UAC and tell 'em their whole system is screwed. People are no longer free to do what they feel they've got a passion for (or anything that could perhaps help them with their future career).

Basically, if you want Law/Med/Vet/Actuarials/etc...you have to do sciences/economics/advanced english/2/3/4 unit maths.

What infuriates me more, is that ESL gets more scaling than standard (not that it bothers me personally cuz I did advanced...) BUT i know ppl who have suffered cuz of this and others who have had unfair advantage because of this.

If BOS continues to award people for having less english skills, then how will the youth of the new millenium prosper? When people don't even have basic communication skills?! grrr

END RANT :chainsaw:

Well if I were to do Med/Vet, I wouldve done sciences/advanced english/4 unit maths, and for Law and Actuaries, it'd make sense to do economics/adv english/2+ unit maths....so i dun really see your point

on topic, a girl from my school last year got 97 with no band 6's (high 80's in 4u math, 3u math, adv english, chem, bio)
