word! hope so too man, for the trials (CSSA) 2u = easy, hence 3u=hard, hopefully the examiners used the same logic for 3 unit lol

jesus.....

i do extension 1 and i found that to be far too hard for the, mathematics course. hell, i found it hard for MY course. so many of the questions were obscure as hell and all of the difficult ones were different to any other exam problem ive ever seen, ever. i did last years paper last night, and that was several times easier than that
it was do-able, but not all that do-well-able, for me at least

too hard in my opinion, hope my ext1 exam is easier than that, christ

so true!!!! i hope 3unit id easier (but thats prob unlikely) that 2 unit felt like a 3unit. there were some questions where my working out went for so long but the question was worth only like average 2-3 marks. or was that only because of me......?????????

Considering i was unable to spell mathematics on the blue sheet before the exam started, it didn't look that good. However, my math ability was much more in sync than my english ability was today.

I heard that the university of sydney accidently leaked out their 4th year maths paper... and that the bos were too lazy to make a new one so they used that one instead...

I was kinda hoping that everyone else did bad too. I answered Q10 with a couple of numbers and a bit of scribble, but I think they'll take one look and decide its a virtual non-attempt. I thought that the paper was quite reasonable until the second part of Q9, but after that the difficulty factor went up like y=ex.

Oh well, I'm glad to hear that everyone else is in the same boat. I'm a bit terrified about 3U after today's little effort.

I didnt get the 3rd part but:

For the 1st part I just said that x-y or y-x represents the time difference which must be less than 15 mins (1/4 of an hr) for them to meet

For the 2nd Part I sketched a diagram with the two lines:
y = x + 1/4 and y = x - 1/4 and found the area between them.
Don't know if what I got was right but I ended up with 7/16 as the probability

Anyone else?

i got 0.375 for part b
the area was a rectangle across the unit square wasn't it
with corners, (0,1/4), (1/4,0), (3/4,1), (1, 3/4)
soo, the sides are sqrt(1/8) and sqrt(1 1/8),
multiplying base * height = 0.375
so P(they meet) = 0.375/1
