I need to write about THREE texts hence i will only use TWO techniques for each. (6 techniques)

What about you?

Can we only use two for each? I just cannot write about 9 techniques in 40 minutes!

Whoa, only two for each text? I think you'd have to do around 8+ for each.

Well good luck in trying to fit that all in, i go through mine in detail. You don't need 10. That's just silly.

But 2? Isn't that too little? Maybe 5 would be fine.

I have 3 for my prescribed, and two for my other two texts.

So really i talk about 7 techniques + an intro and conclusion which gives me 4.5 MINUTES to write about each thing.

what you are suggesting is crazy! for a 40 minute time span ... geez.

What? 2? I don't understand what you mean by saying you go into detail. What detail is required? You use the techniques to support your argument, don't you?

What kind of marks are you receiving in English, by the way?

Edit: Saw your marks, hmm, I don't do it that way and I get 14/15...

She said she got 13/14/15. Personally, I use around 7-10 techniques per text. I got 13/15 in my AOS essay in the trial so I'm happy with what I'm doing.

I think mabye you are talking about different things.
You should ahve 3 main points that you would like to raise about each text, some of these may link the texts together. Then you should have at least one textual example for each technique.
eg Cosi raises the idea that ideas can often be changed by exposure to different circumstances as is represented by the play within a play technique. This is futher shown by the breaching of the 4th wall or lewis' speech at the end where he shows how much he has grown in his ideas and beliefs.

Mabye when you say that you have ten, that is points that you want to riase, not ideas. Often two techniques can be used to shown one idea or concept that you are trying to convey. If you are planning on using ten for each text you have way too many and you will not sufficiently develop your argument, you do not gain marks for simply listing a whole bunch of things that you know about a text, you get makes for introducing a concept that is backed up by textual evidence and developing it by examining it in relation to the topic and the other texts you have chosen.

I have one page that has all of my texts on it and about 5 points that have techniques with them, that way when I see the question I can choose which ones will best convey my ideas.

You may have ten techniques that you have learnt, which is excellent, but you will only need to use two or three for each text in your answer as otherwise you will shown that you do not have an understanding of what is expected. Read the Rubric for each question and you will understand.

My assessment mark was 83/100 .... the highest was 90 at my school.

I think you people are doing WAY too much ... for 40 minutes. Good luck.
