Hey boredofstudians, might sound a bit novice of me but is there any criteria to get a state rank? e.g. must be ranked 1 of the subject internally (hope not)...

And also, is state rankings based purely on the external HSC exam everyone did?
Tell us esp. if you got a state rank or if you're sure that someone you know will get one this year :caffeine:

Lastly, how exactly do you get on the honour roll and wouldn't it be filled up of James Ruse kids?

"The Top Achievers in Course List shows the students in the top places in each course, provided they have also achieved Band 6 or Band E4, as appropriate. The number of students reported depends on the course candidature (see table below). Students are ranked by their HSC mark. Where students have equal HSC marks, they are then ranked by the average of their examination marks and their assessment marks, each taken to one decimal place. In the case of extension courses, marks awarded for other courses in the subject area are also taken into consideration when students are tied. The list shows the student's name and teaching school, and their place in the course."

There actually isn't any official list called the 'Honour Roll'. There is the All Rounders List and the Distinguished Achievers List. (In the past the media has used the term 'Honour Roll' to refer to all four official lists)

All Rounders is a list of those who got Band 6 or E4 in at least 10 units.

The DA list lists all students who received a Band 6 or E4 in a subject.

You don't need to be first internally to attain a state-rank, though it makes it more difficult per se.
