"Success rate" is calculated as follows:

"Total Attempts" refers to the aggregate count of marks available. For example, a student who does 5 courses and gains 5 sets of marks will contribute 5 attempts to the total attempts of the school.

"Total Credits" refers to number of band 6/band E4 results (90 or above) that are achieved.

Wonderful to see the SMH producing a full list again. I assume it's partly in an act of defiance against the law that makes this list illegal. I wouldn't term the percentage (Credits/Attemptsx100) as a 'success rate' though. Implies < Band 6 is failure, which clearly isn't the case. Also should take into account equal rankings.

wow.

theres a few big jumps in there.
Due to the manner in which schools are ranked, the rankings are always extremely volatile. It doesn't necessarily indicate anything inherently changed with the quality of the school itself.

One of the main surprises that caught my eye was NBSC Manly. They usually hover about the 20s and now they're finally in the top 10 for the first time, only just surpassing North Sydney Boys and Sydney Grammar. Quite remarkable.
