Am I the only one who just noticed this advertisement on the front page to http://www.getabetterfirstjob.com.au ? $35k p.a. remuneration is pretty good for a HSC leaver although I do wonder what those job titles really mean... Gotta admit they are creative.

Anyway I'm not really interested but in case someone else missed the add on the front page of BoS, the link is up above.

Here's an extract from the website in terms of what you'll be doing;

ING said:
We have a range of entry level opportunities that can set you on the path to an interesting career. You will be trained in our superannuation, investment and risk products, gain commercial exposure, and work within a vibrant team culture.
A role within our call centre or administration areas will provide you with the foundation to pursue opportunities in the more specialised areas of our business and to work whilst undertaking tertiary studies.

Fund Administration - including the processing of superannuation, investment and insurance applications and alterations
Customer Services - liaising with Financial Advisors, their staff, and investors. Responding to inquiries and initiating follow up on outstanding items
General Administration - including responding to customer fax and email requests and managing paperwork
Document Send-out - managing any outgoing mail requests to provide information to Advisers and customers
Participate in a team environment - to ensure world class customer service at all times
The requirements don't sound too difficult either~ Best wishes to anyone who ends up applying.

(On a sidenote, they use the recruitasp.com.au service)

If I didn't have a job for next year I'd consider it- it's a suit job (which is good for work exp) and it's well paid.... They really need to advertise better because from what I can see it seems like a pretty good deal- they just make it sound really dodgy in that little add I saw on BoS.

Well actually, they are a large & reputable company who know what they are doing. The ad is on BoS because they think it is suitable, & I tend to agree. Like come come on, over 80,000 members...there have got to be plenty of young minds running through this site. The perfect place to advertise a school leaver employment oppurtunity.

Meads, I wasn't doubting the company or the job, but I think they could've done a better job with the advertisement~ I know the $35k is the 'selling point' of the job, but by making it so blunt, it made it seem like it was a jip or con... anyway, I'm curious to hear from someone who takes up on the offer because I wonder what they actually do for $35k at our age =]

Hmmm... thats quite decent for a HSC leaver.

Usually a a difficult-to-get-in Uni Internship at CSIRO gives only 32k :p

I may apply...even though I have no real interest ending up working in the financial industry, it would prove to be interesting.

Deadline has been extended till 5th of December. Pay is awesome, its within the average amount a recent graduate gets.

Is there much opportunity for progression was my question- I saw this job more of a 'filler' role until one finishes uni.

Umm, it's okay wage. I earn 35k a year from the NAB. I'm only 17.

If there's no chance of progression in the company, i'd look elsewhere.

Woah you work at NAB and get $35k whilst studying too? That's amazing actually (for a 17yr old). What do you actually do?
