80 in general maths and 80 in legal or business will contribute similarly to your uai.

Even if 81 or 82 in general maths = about 80 in legal or 79 in business, it's still probably a lot easier to get that 82 in general than 80 in legal.

Treat scaling like currency conversion. Some 'currency' is worth more than others, for example in this situation, physics is worth more than general maths.

err physics is worth more but gen maths beats it by 1 % ??!?

a 60 in general maths would contribute more than 50 in physics
dont think that doing physics, chem etc is instant hsc success.

and yes, legal studies scales shit LOL, i always thought it was the "hard" subject....which would scale.. but apparently not.
