English is easy if you understand the text and the requirements. For me it was the most bullshitable course at high school. Just write anything in but make sure it sounds good and has some depth to it. eg. Change is an inevitable process.. erm.. it's good.. it's bad as well.. erm.. *add more bulllshit here and there* You catch my drift ?

Btw.. i did Standard English and managed a 83 band 5 (top 1%) w00t! :D

English is all about justifying what you make up about the text, For example "The use of shades of the colour red, implies that one does not see all things in their true life but is biased towards them based on previous experience"

so basically everything is a valid answer as long as u justify with some bullshit quote from the text...just throw in the nice wording and ull get through...at least that is what my plan is for this yr...

Get about 3-4 quotes from each text which are highly manipulatable to the situation, and write lots of practice essays, practice intros, practice conclusions. If you do that consistently throughout the year, you'll be fine. It's effectively no work, with very good results (at least for me)

Hate to say it, but without working for it, a mark of 80 might be difficult to get! Especially without doing any practice essays! :)

I'm with you - I absolutly hated english during yr 11 and 12 and I used to looooooove it in the other years. But then all of a sudden, litterally the week before the exams, I feel in love with the stuff again (Or maybe I just had a breakdown.......lol)
I can actually talk about King Lear without vomiting now and I find it creepy that I can now do that!

Same with me CLAIREGIRL!! I got 67% in the trials and got 89% in the exam

Everyone hates it because its compulsory. If it wasn't compulsory, it wouldn't hurt so much. You would get rid of the least interested people.

P.S I wish English was like maths, and if you did 4u you didnt have to do a 2u exam. (and yes, i know there isn't an exam for 4u english)
