Thanks Soliah
I mean, it is a great idea in theory, but in practice it isn't contributing in a sense to what IT stuff (and the intended purpose) of the forum is all about.
For example, "general IT help" would be my description of this forum.
But it would be really convoluted if you had:
* Windows 95, 98, 98SE, ME tips and tricks
* Windows NT, 2000, XP, 2003 tips and tricks
* Post your favourite application
* Post your system specs
* Ideas for the IT stuff forum
* Troubleshooting in linux
* What is your favourite Linux/Unis OS
* AMD vs Intel battles
* Windows XP vs Windows 2000
I know that they are all relevant, and they should all have a place, but for the 'ordinary' user, say for a HSC student who has problems sometimes with computers, IT, they may not be able to read every tweak, hack or tip, let alone know which OS they are using! (sorry, but it is sometimes the case...).
Of course, some users may have a slight understanding of what pieces of hardware they have, but they might not be able to know which drivers are being used, version numbers, applications installed, and so on to be able to "hack" (via registry entries and so on, customising and configurations).
But of course, this is open to everybody and everyone is able to contribute.
I'd hate to see "IT stuff" become "Non-School (IT Stuff)" if you know what I mean?
