Hey everyone!
I've made only a few posts here on BoredOfStudies, but ended up stopping because their restrictions are annoying lol. So I've just been focusing on pushing content on YouTube and TikTok.
For those of you who may not know me yet, let me re-introduce myself!
My name is Luqman Arab, and I graduated the HSC in 2022.
I wasn’t one of those naturally smart, high-achieving students.
In fact, if you looked at my report cards from Year 7 to 10… you’d think I had absolutely no hope.
C’s.
D’s.
Barely passing.
Never taking school seriously.
Never studying a single minute outside of class.
While everyone else stressed before exams, I spent the night playing video games, watching Netflix, or chilling with the boys. I genuinely believed:
“If I skim the slides right before the exam, I’ll be fine.” Yeah… not true.
Teachers gave up on me.
Students laughed at me.
Some literally called me “dumb.”
I disappointed my parents constantly.
Truthfully — school felt pointless to me. I didn’t care, and I had zero direction.
But everything changed in the most random way…
The Night Everything Flipped
One night during a family trip, I was sitting alone in a hotel room, staring out at the city lights.
And out of nowhere, it hit me:
I had wasted four entire years of high school… and Year 11 was only two weeks away.
If I kept going like this:
No good university.
No good career.
No opportunities.
Nothing.
For the first time ever, I actually felt scared of my future.
And right there in that moment — something inside me snapped.
I realised that Year 11 & 12 were my final chance to rewrite my entire life.
So I set the craziest goal of my life: 95 ATAR.
I know, sounds ridiculous for a D-student.
But I didn’t care. I needed something huge to aim for.
I wrote it down.
I visualised it.
And then I went all in.
Year 11 & 12: The Transformation
I didn’t magically become smart overnight.
But I became someone who was willing to learn.
I studied success.
Studied discipline.
Studied the psychology of habits.
Watched, read, listened to hundreds of resources on improvement.
And most importantly — I built systems.
I woke up early.
I studied every day — not just hard, but SMART.
I tracked my progress.
I reflected on every test.
I fixed my weaknesses one by one.
Birthdays, holidays, celebrations — I still studied.
Not because I had to…
But because I finally had purpose.
And trust me — it wasn’t a smooth journey.
I failed.
I cried.
I doubted myself.
I felt lost.
But I never stopped.
The Outcome (That Shocked Everyone)
Two years later, after grinding harder than I ever thought I could…
I didn’t just hit my goal.
I destroyed it.
At a 300+ ranked public school, with lower-scaling subjects, coming from years of D grades — I walked out with:
- 97.90 ATAR
- DUX of my cohort
- Band 6 in every subject (All-Rounder)
- AAA Scholarship to UNSW
I shocked teachers.
I shocked students.
I shocked my own family.
No one expected it.
And honestly — I don’t blame them.
My past didn’t look like the past of a “95+ ATAR student.”
But that’s exactly why I share my story.
Why I’m Here Today
I’m not special.
I wasn’t naturally smart.
I wasn’t privileged.
And I didn’t go to a top school.
I was just someone who decided to change, and built the habits to back it up.
Now, after graduating, I’ve dedicated my time to helping other Year 11 & 12 students who were just like me — the underdogs, the doubted, the ones who feel behind — make an academic comeback.
I share everything I learned:
• the mindset
• the study systems
• the productivity techniques
• and the exact steps I used to go from D’s to a 97.90 ATAR
Because I know what it feels like to have no hope.
I know what it feels like to be behind.
I know what it feels like to want to turn everything around but not know how.
