Someone said that it would be good, because your studying for possible extended Q's in the 3 uni exams.

True, as Sino mentioned - brush up on the other topics before attempting harder 3u Qs as it is easier to acquire marks elsewhere.

do the major parts of 3U, no point doing the extremely hard parts of 3U because it is usually only worth 10% of the exam
