i hate julia gillard so much its not funny...
carbon tax is the biggest scam ever. most countries that have adopted the "carbon tax" have stated that the unemployment rate has increased and gdp has decreased...
thank you julia gillard..for being probably the worst prime minister that australia has ever had.

eh tax is a tax

would of been less sneaky to raise the income taxes on all aussies, instead of trying to hide that fact by pretending to tax bussines

So if I've got this right

This is basically a higher income earner's tax accompanied by lower and middle class welfare

Since low and medium income earners get reimbursed and won't change their habits at all ergo causing no difference to destructive behaviour, the rich just have to pay more for everything

Today science has won out over dogma, reason over belligerence. As the polls begin to improve for the Gillard government it is clear that we have stemmed the tide of politics of greed and self interest wrapped in the thinly veiled cloak of scientific scepticism. As we sail forth towards a clean and sustainable future in spite of the vitriolic attacks and the comic denial I feel the hand of history is on our shoulders. This is a day for all Australians to join together and celebrate the courage of its government in taking action to combat the greatest moral challenge of our time.

yep i'm celebrating that increase in taxes with no noticeable difference to worldwide pollution

and don't even pretend for a second labour even wanted this bill passed, if they had a majority they wouldn't have even considered it

In fifty years time when your grandchildren ask where you were at this defining moment in our nations history, a day in which we secured their sustainable future, you can tell them you were on the other side. The future is green or it is not at all, that is the simple reality of it. Your choice is simple, get on board or get left behind.

the tax is what i like to call retributive punishment on businesses....
businesses that established themselves, conforming to govt's rules and regulations, are now being punished because of their actions, which were once the same actions that the government gave them the A-Ok for.
the carbon tax is a load of shit.
yes, perhaps per person, we do produce a lot of carbon, but as a nation we produce something like 1% of the world's total carbon emissions. yep, carbon tax in australia is really going to reduce the 1% that we produce as a nation folks.
(or maybe we'll just import materials from overseas, close our pre-existing high profiteering industries...end up with a crazy number of unemployed people all in the name of 'saving our green planet!':p)

>reduce carbon emissions
also tax the rich more

give their money to the poor to 'compensate' increased prices

don't reduce emissions
make everything expensive

cripple us economically
