Couldnt' really find a place to put this in the language forum..

How do you know if you are continuers or background?

Can anyone show me the rules that state so please?

Thanks

Also, is it possible to do a continuers course if you havent done the
Year 9/10 course?

There was another thread on something like this here.

Also, according to Open High School, for something like Japanese Continuers the prerequisites are "School Certificate Japanese or equivalent knowledge" so I presume the same thing applies to other languages. But then again, I wouldn't know because I'm not doing any languages.

The definition of a Background speaker is obviously someone who has been born and raised with that language in their family... To be a continuer you must know at least up to the level of 9/10 (School Certificate) grade of that particular language.

OHS as in Occupational Health and Safety booklet? That's a very weird place to find it... I will take it that it's not the OHS I'm thinking of, but that's all I can think of :p

Well the global term for OHS is Occupational Health and Safety. It's basically all you get from searches on the internet :D lol. And is also school related!

You don't have to do a language in 9/10 to be eligible to do the continuers course. My friend was tutored and satisfactorily completed 120 hours of Japanese in 9/10 and she's doing to continuers and extension course now.
I only went to Saturday school for 1 year. Would that be sufficient?
