Magnetic Flux and Position of the coil (1 Viewer)

In a generator, why is it that flux is maximum when the plane of the coil is perpendicular to the magnetic field lines? Coz isn't there more flux lines cutting the coil when it is parallel to the magnetic field :S when its perpendicular, I keep visualizing that the flux lines are just passing through the empty inner coil as in the second and fourth pics in the diagram below.

It is not the amount of flux actually hitting the coil itself, it is the number of flux lines passing through the area of the coil or 'threading the coil', which is this 'empty inner coil' you are talking about :)

Ohhh so it doesn't actually matter how many flux lines are physically hitting the lengths of the wire in the coil? Awesome, thank you!
