I have no clue where to post this and I desperately want some info. he r/korea reddit didn'tt let me post (idk why)
So I had my 18th birthday earlier this year (July) but I began the process of renouncing my korean citizenship in early February. For some background info, my mum is Korean but I am Australian (born and raised in Aus), but apparently I also automatically become a Koran citizen or smth.
Continuing on, I went to the embassy and signed some forms etc, and I was told to wait until I receive a text message on kakao for the officials to begin serving me or finalising my application (or something like that). Thing is, everything is in Hangul (korean) and I can't read any of it. So either I didn't see/understand when or how I got a notification or it got delayed. Either way, I just realised it now (November) but apparently I was supposed to accept/confirm the notification within 5 days of receiving it (so early feb).
Does this mean I have to restart the entire process and is it too late to do anything? I really don't want to do the military service as it is quite inconvenient for my future and studies, but I still want to visit my family in korea. My mum is currently calling the embassy to figure it out but I want to find out myself from people who have/are in the same boat as me.
Please help... I'm so confused and just a troubled teen
