Scenario:

Test1 person X beats person Z...very little margin <5% say....test 2 Half Yearly Person X absent....Person Z obtains okay mark....since Person X came 1st (in 1st test) skool decides to give Person X the top mark which was about 10% greater than person Z....upon consultation Z learns that if the "prediction" about giving the mark to the "better" person changes in the trials, they will reconsider X's half yearly mark.
Test 3: Z and X are equal. Test 4, trials, : Z beats X by about 11%.

Trials weigting was like 35% , half yearly maybe something like 25% and the rest to the others i think.

So on these figures it appears to be very close, perhaps X slightly in front.

Is it purely up to the school to make decisions on these cases or do i have the right to take it up further elsewhere ?

PS. To what order of accuracy are internal school marks considered? Rounding to nearest whole, tenth, etc ?

Such matters are resolved at the school's discretion. You should consult your principal if you feel that you have been unfairly disadvantaged in some way. The Board is unlikely to intervene.

The level of precision used to record internal marks is also school-specific. The Board rounds all marks received from schools to one decimal place.

Ok things turned out kind of ok, equal first. Upon asking to see the actual marks, i was informed they don't do that and it's against their policy. Err, wtf? What's so revealing about showing the marks you got throughout the year when everyone knew them at that point so just to make sure the 'addition' was done correctly at the end?

The Board 'advises' schools not to disclose the final internal assessment marks because it is virtually guaranteed that they will differ significantly to the moderated assessment marks. This can (allegedly) cause confusion for many students.

They seem to forget that students can calculate the totals themselves.

Yeah but those are the ones with half a brain and wouldn't get confused.
