nah it was 3u, from a paper my teacher entitled "Mathematics Extension 1, HSC - 2002"
which it evidently isn't but yea

its because she got 1 and 2 mixed up

was ment to write

extension 2, HSC - 2002

Just a quick question, are we allowed to use the 4U way if such a question turns up in the 3U paper?

It is 3u. Have a look at my post in the marathon thread for the 3u way of doing it.

hmm.. from memory i think it is 4u

i dont remember coverin it in 3u but it is in the polynomial section of 4u

i no how to do it jus in case they need might ask it for 3u

It's a type of question that you learn to tackle in 4U, but you can alternatively do it using a 3U method. Does that make sense?
