I have a really lame and typical Rob-esque question.

Apparently it's best for new mentors to work in pairs. Does any humanities person not have a buddy? :$

All my other friends are either SCMP or business.

err..work in pairs?

as in during orientation day you work with another for a group of kids??
hmm, Sandie don't mind, cos she told us it was ok, as long as theres enough mentors around (ie each mentor takes approx 8 kids)

and as for the training day, apparently its for the whole day..9 - 3 i think
don't worry, more information will be up, i mean, the leaders haven't been trained yet!!

I got told that it's a good idea if it's your first time mentoring.

I can understand why. I just need a buddy ;(

Talked to Sandie about this, actually... she said that she prefers mentors by themselves because in the past they've had a few pairs who walk around and talk to each other, while if you're by yourself with a group, you've got no choice but to talk to the group...

Yep, Sandie said she prefered that mentors didnt go in pairs (though if you think youll be really stressed, then she said its ok in pairs). To tell you the truth, even though i partnered up with someone i wish i had just done it myself, i think it would have been easier - if mentors have to lead, its easier having one leader than two in the group.

Ah, ok. That makes sense.

I'm sure I can handle this.

It depends on numbers as well, in SCMP we had too many, so there were a few who overlapped :)

And then somehow I ended up with a group of about 20! It was good fun though.

20? Eeek!

I just hope there are other BCA mentors. There were only two last year... :S

Rob: You'll be fine! It's just like peer support. :)

Phanatic: So if I see one of two people holding a video camera, I can come up and say hi?

psych has a mentor training day on the 13th Feb. You might see me, Skittled and MJ, because we are doing the training :) (there may be other departments on at teh same time though, so u might not be put into psych).

Sure. I'll generally make myself known somehow anyway. I tend to be loud and subversive. I corrupted Mike last year, and a few others. Mwahahahaha.

Valentines Day. Ooooooh. Is that because Mentors are geeks and nerds who can't get dates, and so have no plans that day?
