Does anyone have experience with GLP, how difficult it is to get in? whats it involve? etc.

I'm considering applying for it next sem, I didn't initially apply because I wanted to see if I'd have time balancing it with work uni and other commitments, think I should be fine in terms of time.

Also hope the final exams for my units are similar to the samples I've seen :D

GLP- simple to get into. Just sign up on Thrive, fill out the form. Any undergraduate student can do it (there's another program for postgrad) so don't worry about entry requirements

I'm thinking of doing it next semester, sounds good! (alot of work though, but it could be worth it)

Yea from what I've heard the pay off is quiet decent in terms of your Resume and its good for networking as well. A lot of people I know in upper years have done it/are doing it as well and even some people I met at Uni (as in didnt know before them before hand)

I'm going to miss Ubar's current location.
It's honestly the best university bar in NSW that I've been too.

Well, I do understand the campus hub looks a bit rusty on the outside. Oh well maybe I'll finally go to UBar, lol.

How are everyone's exam timetables?

My exam timetable is shite so I'd probably better start studying now I've got no big assessments due.

Is it normal the uni won't give you breaks after all the lectures end? Our last lecture is apparently this week and isn't providing revision, but a new topic. Then the week after I have an exam.

I've heard other unis are actually a bit nicer and give a week break/stuvac for your exams.

Sadly, I think we go straight into exams. Even just... a week would be nice. Hopefully the 'new topic' for you is rather light on content.

Alot of unis do give breaks- and probably more should.

Hopefully.
Turns out the Week 12 Lecture I just watched was meant to cover all the slides, but it only covered 1/3 as opposed to the other lecturers who had covered all of them -.-.
They uploaded a lecture over the weekend meant for June 05 (today), and its an old one. I think they only just realised that it didn't cover all the content. That's annoying. So if you wanted to watch the same lecturer its 4 hours instead of the regular two.

It's normal for Macquarie to go straight to exams. Most units finish content by week 12 though.

I agree. Week 13 is usually revision and exam content discussions if that hasn't already happened.

We normally have a 2 week mid semester break, which is different to most other universities.

If your being introduced to new content this week, ask if it is in the exam. Odds are it's not, or it's going to be a very simple question (ie. A multiple choice or short answer).

I suppose a plus is that we get more time for holidays / breaks. It would be very interesting to see if students would be willing to give up a week of their mid-semester week if it meant a study week. But I doubt that'll happen due to MQ's emphasis on external students, who use the 2 week break for on-campus activities.

But I think the approach of just sticking to revision in the final week would make a huge difference in student confidence. One of my subjects is apparently 'light' on content this week. That's alright, I suppose.

I'd be fine with not having the stuvac break if they'd just give me a nice timetable.

Exam rooms and seating allocations will be released at 1pm today.

You can check the same place you see your timetable.

If it's your first semester, make sure you look up the nearest secure bag room and allow enough time to check in anything you aren't allowed to take into your exam room.

Personal tip: It's better to be 2 hours early and have to sit around eating and studying, than to cut it fine on getting to uni. Bring only what you need, and stay calm!

Best of luck to everyone :)
